About Ebola Fund Watch

BudgIT in collaboration with Open Society Initiative for West Africa is implementing a project titled Ebola Fund Watch. The objective of the project is for accountability regarding the deadly Ebola Virus Disease, and it plans to follow up with public institutions, key stakeholders and citizens on a sub-regional level to gather evidence on the efficient use of committed funds for the containment of the Ebola outbreak as provided by donors. This project also plans to create a narrative of cumulative experiences of how emergency funds were applied to survivors, victims, healthcare workers, institutions and other beneficiaries.

This project focuses on curating, tracking and demanding accountability for funds meant for Ebola virus treatment and containment across the sub region.

Considering the challenge of transparency across the sub-region, there is a lot of concern around the efficiency of funds pledged by the International, private, public and donor communities. There has been a lot of donations and support for the projects in various countries affected by the virus. Working with partners across the sub-region, this project aims to groundtruth (evidence based advocacy from using multi-stakeholder approach) application of funds disbursed for Ebola and tracks the use of such funds. The plan is to follow up with public institutions, key stakeholders and citizens on a sub-regional level to gather evidence on the efficient use of committed funds for the containment of the Ebola outbreak as provided by donors. This project also plans to create a narrative of cumulative experiences of how emergency funds were applied to survivors, victims, healthcare workers, institutions and other beneficiaries.
